GebouwNbeheer was asked by the University of Twente to map the existing situation of Cubicus (formerly Applied Mathematics and Computing Center) by means of a BIM model.
The University of Twente wants a good, current and usable BIM model, which can later be used for tendering. We created a BIM model based on archive drawings, 360 film material and measurements.
Cubicus was designed by architectural firm Environmental Design and built between 1969 and 1973. It is composed of connected base units that spread out in a "canalized" structure across the site and into the water. The design is a fairly literal translation of the brief that called for a "groundscraper rather than a skyscraper.
The building is constructed entirely of béton brut in which traces of formwork are visible to concrete slabs and masonry concrete bricks. The building stands partly on land and partly in the campus' largest pond.
